I love my sewing corner - it's truly MY own space in this busy house of mine <3
My husband and I built it ourselves to my own ergonomic specifications for sewing and cutting.
We put up cupboards and added IKEA bins and it's just a wonderful space to be in.
So, now that I am back to my area, I have a few projects to update on !
I started with some new PJs for my kids, all made with a wonderful bamboo fabric a friend gave me.
The boys got PJs made from a slightly modified Simplicity pattern that I've used before. A tried and true pattern that is my go-to for easy PJs for anyone.
Simplicity 3577 - great size range all in one pattern. I have traced out the sizes we need so I can use it time and again.
This time - the boys got the pjs from it.
A child "M" for my 13-yr old - with the black bamboo fabric, some camo jersey, and a Yoda iron-on because he LOVES Star Wars !
A child "S" for my 8-yr old - with some pirate jersey for his sleeves, and a patch-pocket on the back of the shorts.
My 11-yr old girl got some JamJam PJ's that are by Love Notions.
I make a size 10 for her, and she has plenty of growing room in them - they will last her for a while.
The black is the same bamboo fabric I used on the boys outfits, but the blue jersey is from my Mom's leftover stash.
And then I made a dress for a friend's daughter - a Mallory dress - again by Love Notions.
This was done as a thank you - my friend found several New Kids On The Block CDs that she gave to my daughter ! I couldn't let such an amazing kindness go without thanks.
My daughter and I did a count - this was the 8th time I've made the Mallory dress.
This is that black bamboo fabric again - and some pink camo for total cuteness !
And after all that, my favourite pattern maker released a new pattern for ladies !
And for free at first !
And I had some black bamboo left.
SO - I braved the tape measure, and got my measurements.
I was worried - I'm a very plus sized girl, but I do not have a plus-sized chest, which can make shirts look really odd on me. Very tent-like in most cases.
But in the end I do really like my new Love Notions Laundry Day Tee.
I made a straight-up 2X, with the V-neck option, in short sleeves and shirt length.
Yes, my hair was in a towel, and no I'm not smiling.
I'd just gotten out of the shower, and I hate having my picture taken.
Now - on to more sewing. The cooler weather triggers my creative bug.
